About
My Philosophy
I love what I do because I am saving lives and changing them for the better. I understand that my clients are so much MORE than the eating disorder and I love watching their personality surface as the eating disorder crumbles away. I love helping them see their inherit worth and reach their highest goals.
I have specialized in working with eating disorder patients, and I have fallen in love with this inspiring group of people. Yes, there are definitely hard days, but the work I do for those struggling with eating disorders and disordered eating is unparalleled and so rewarding!
I am a firm believer in Intuitive Eating and that it can work for anyone wanting to have a healthy relationship with food, enjoy eating again, and have respect and appreciation for their body. Intuitive Eating is my passion and anyone I talk to can feel my intense love for this philosophy for life.
My Story
I became a Registered Dietitian because it is the perfect combination of my love for food, cooking, psychology, and helping others. I graduated from Brigham Young University with my Bachelor of Science in Dietetics, then continued to do a distance internship through Utah State University in Arizona.
I passed my long-awaited RD exam and started my dream job right away working in an eating disorder treatment center. Later, I moved out of state for my husband to attend medical school, and I am so grateful for the opportunities that have come from that move. I am currently the owner of Nutrition for Hope and I have completed a Masters of Dietetic Administration through Utah State University.
I am a busy wife and mother of two daughters and one son. I had my first daughter when I was in school, I delivered my second daughter right after finishing my internship, and went to work at my first job when she was 3 months old. I have always worked hard to be a mother and attain my goals of being a dietitian because I love being both! I am blessed to be a mother and I am raising my children to be Intuitive Eaters and to love and respect the bodies they have.
My approach to food
I am a believer of Intuitive Eating and as such, I know that ALL foods can and should fit into a healthy lifestyle (yes, even desserts!). Variety and Moderation is key, especially in treating eating disorders and disordered eating because food is your medicine. This is not only important to ensure your body is getting all the nutrients it needs, but also to challenge your old beliefs about food. I will help you make peace with food so you can eat what you love while still constantly challenging yourself.
